I picked up on an older matter/article where others that have mentioned that a barrel possessing the “Oval P” might have been equipped by Winchester:

For barrels & receivers made just after 1905: Receivers getting the “WP” evidence but no “WP” or “Oval P” proof around the barrel would reveal the barrel was changed beyond Winchester employing a pre-1905 barrel.
